Psalm 91:1-2

New International Version

Psalm 91

¹Whoever dwells in the shelter^(A) of the Most High
will rest in the shadow^(B) of the Almighty.^[a]
²I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge^(C) and my fortress,^(D)
my God, in whom I trust.”

⁹If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
    and you make the Most High your dwelling,
¹⁰no harm^(A) will overtake you,
    no disaster will come near your tent.
¹¹For he will command his angels^(B) concerning you
    to guard you in all your ways;^(C)
¹²they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.^(D)
¹³You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.^(E)

¹⁴“Because he^[a] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
¹⁵He will call on me, and I will answer him;
    I will be with him in trouble,
    I will deliver him and honor him.^(F)
¹⁶With long life^(G) I will satisfy him
    and show him my salvation.^(H)”

3 There is a time^(A) for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:

²    a time to be born and a time to die,
    a time to plant and a time to uproot,^(B)
³    a time to kill^(C) and a time to heal,
    a time to tear down and a time to build,
⁴    a time to weep and a time to laugh,
    a time to mourn and a time to dance,
⁵    a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
    a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
⁶    a time to search and a time to give up,
    a time to keep and a time to throw away,
⁷    a time to tear and a time to mend,
    a time to be silent^(D) and a time to speak,
⁸    a time to love and a time to hate,
    a time for war and a time for peace.

John 12:27-36

²⁷“Now my soul is troubled,^(A) and what shall I say? ‘Father,^(B) save me from this hour’?^(C) No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. ²⁸Father, glorify your name!”

Then a voice came from heaven,^(D) “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” ²⁹The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.

³⁰Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit,^(E) not mine. ³¹Now is the time for judgment on this world;^(F) now the prince of this world^(G) will be driven out. ³²And I, when I am lifted up^[a] from the earth,^(H) will draw all people to myself.”^(I) ³³He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.^(J)

³⁴The crowd spoke up, “We have heard from the Law^(K) that the Messiah will remain forever,^(L) so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man^(M) must be lifted up’?^(N) Who is this ‘Son of Man’?”

³⁵Then Jesus told them, “You are going to have the light^(O) just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light,^(P) before darkness overtakes you.^(Q) Whoever walks in the dark does not know where they are going. ³⁶Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.”^(R) When he had finished speaking, Jesus left and hid himself from them.^(S)
